At the Rotary Club of Chunnakam Heritage (Rotary District 3220, Sri Lanka & Maldives), women’s empowerment and community self-reliance stand as vital pillars of our humanitarian mission. When women are equipped with self-awareness, life skills, and practical opportunities, they not only uplift their households but also drive economic and social progress across entire communities.
On 27th August 2025, our club successfully conducted a comprehensive Women’s Self-Awareness Project at the Velanai Divisional Secretariat (DS) Office, dedicated to empowering local women with actionable knowledge, personal confidence, and sustainable pathways for the future.
Equipping Women for Personal and Economic Resilience
Women in rural and island communities often face multifaceted challenges, from economic dependency to limited access to vocational guidance and personal development platforms. This awareness initiative was thoughtfully structured to provide practical tools that foster long-term self-reliance:
