At the Rotary Club of Chunnakam Heritage (Rotary District 3220, Sri Lanka & Maldives), promoting community welfare, supporting elder care, and alleviating physical hardships among vulnerable households are central to our humanitarian mission. True grassroots service addresses the daily struggles faced by individuals living below the poverty line, delivering targeted interventions that restore mobility, personal freedom, and dignity.
Today, our club members mobilized to carry out a compassionate welfare intervention, presenting a brand-new, high-quality wheelchair directly to an elderly woman living under the poverty line in the Madduvil area.
Restoring Mobility, Dignity, and Independence in Madduvil
For an elderly individual experiencing severe physical limitations, restricted mobility can result in long-term confinement to a bed or single room. When combined with economic hardship, purchasing specialized mobility equipment is often far beyond a family’s financial reach.
