Shoes for Young Learners

Donating Shoes to 25 Children @ Santhapuram Kalaimagal Pre School Kilinochchi under the Sustainable Lanka Project. Cost LKR 60000.00

At the Rotary Club of Chunnakam Heritage (Rotary District 3220, Sri Lanka & Maldives), promoting basic education, early childhood development, and child healthcare are foundational pillars of our humanitarian service. Caring for the fundamental needs of preschool children helps build early self-esteem, protects physical health, and creates a welcoming, supportive educational environment where little learners can thrive.
Under the framework of the Sustainable Lanka Project, our club organized a heartfelt community initiative to distribute brand-new, durable pairs of school shoes to 25 deserving children at Santhapuram Kalaimagal Pre School in Kilinochchi, with an overall project investment of LKR 60,000.00.

Protecting Health and Building Confidence in Early Childhood

For families in rural communities, purchasing quality footwear for growing children can present an ongoing financial strain on modest household budgets. Providing proper shoes to preschool learners delivers immediate, compounding benefits for daily attendance and child well-being:
  • Protecting Foot Health and Hygiene: Wearing sturdy, comfortable shoes shields delicate young feet from cuts, bruises, rough gravel roads, thorns, and soil-transmitted infections, ensuring safe travel to and from school.
  • Encouraging Confident School Participation: Equipping little learners with neat, proper footwear fosters a strong sense of dignity, equality, and pride as they step into their classrooms each morning.
  • Easing Family Financial Burdens: Covering the cost of essential footwear lifts an immediate domestic expense off 25 low-income households, allowing families to allocate funds toward proper nutrition and healthcare.
  • Supporting Early Childhood Education: Providing children with proper school essentials motivates regular attendance, setting a strong educational foundation right from their preschool years.
The radiant smiles, bright enthusiasm, and genuine joy seen across the classrooms of Santhapuram Kalaimagal Pre School as the children tried on their new shoes made this welfare initiative deeply rewarding for everyone involved.
