Drug Awareness Campaign at Earlalai mahavidjalajam

The Rotary Club of Chunnakam Heritage successfully conducted a community-focused project aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse at Earlalai Mahavidyalayam. The project was carried out in collaboration with key partners, including the Divisional Secretary of Tellippalai and the Vali North Resource Centre (VNRC). This initiative targeted students, teachers, and the broader community to address the growing concern of drug misuse, especially among youth.

Objective:
The primary goal of this project was to educate and inform the youth about the harmful effects of drugs, raise awareness about prevention strategies, and promote healthy lifestyles. The initiative sought to empower students to make informed decisions and equip them with the knowledge and skills to resist peer pressure and avoid the destructive consequences of drug abuse. Additionally, it aimed to foster a supportive environment in the community for individuals who may be struggling with substance abuse, offering resources for help and guidance.

Project Activities:
The project kicked off with a series of informative sessions at Earlalai Mahavidyalayam, attended by students, teachers, and community members. The sessions were led by experts in the field, including health professionals, social workers, and representatives from VNRC, who provided valuable insights on the causes of drug abuse, its impact on physical and mental health, and strategies for prevention. The divisional secretary of Tellippalai also played a significant role by highlighting the importance of community involvement in tackling the issue of drug abuse and the role of local government in supporting such initiatives.

Interactive workshops were conducted, where students engaged in discussions, role-playing activities, and case studies to better understand the challenges related to drug use and the importance of making healthy choices. These workshops aimed to encourage critical thinking and foster open dialogue about the social, emotional, and physical effects of drugs.

Additionally, the project included the distribution of informative pamphlets and posters, which highlighted key facts about drug abuse and local resources available for support. These materials were shared with the students and faculty to ensure long-lasting awareness within the school community.
