Bringing Clear Vision to 50 Beneficiaries

Today, we provided spectacles to 50 beneficiaries in the Velanai area with the support of the Velanai Pradeshiya Sabha. This project was sponsored by Global Hand Charity, Australia. We extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. Reji, the Coordinator for Australia, and Mr. Christer Paul, the Sri Lanka Coordinator, as well as PDG Pubudu, for their valuable support in successfully carrying out this project

At the Rotary Club of Chunnakam Heritage (Rotary District 3220, Sri Lanka & Maldives), vision care, disease prevention, and public health remain essential avenues of our humanitarian service. Uncorrected refractive errors and declining vision present silent yet profound barriers to daily productivity, independent living, and overall quality of life, especially for elders and daily wage earners in rural island regions.
Today, in an impactful vision care initiative, our club successfully distributed customized prescription spectacles to 50 deserving beneficiaries in the Velanai area, restoring clear sight and daily dignity with the valuable administrative support of the Velanai Pradeshiya Sabha.

Restoring Vision, Independence, and Community Well-Being

For low-income residents in island communities like Velanai, accessing specialized eye clinics and procuring customized spectacles can involve long travel distances and prohibitive retail costs. Providing personalized eyeglasses directly within the locality delivers immediate, practical benefits:
