At the Rotary Club of Chunnakam Heritage (Rotary District 3220, Sri Lanka & Maldives), promoting disease prevention, student well-being, and access to clean water and sanitation are foundational pillars of our humanitarian mission. Safe, purified drinking water in learning environments is essential for safeguarding child health, improving classroom concentration, and ensuring uninterrupted school attendance.
We are immensely proud to announce the successful handover and commissioning of high-capacity water filtration systems to two deserving academic institutions:
  • Madduvil Maha Vidyalayam
  • Madduvil GTMS School
This vital clean water initiative ensures that hundreds of young learners, teachers, and school staff now have daily access to pure, safe drinking water.

Protecting Child Health Through Safe Drinking Water

Groundwater across rural regions can often carry high mineralization, seasonal sediments, and biological contaminants that lead to waterborne illnesses. Installing dedicated, multi-stage filtration units directly on campus delivers critical, compounding benefits for the entire school environment:
  • Preventing Waterborne Ailments: Purified drinking water shields students from bacterial infections, stomach illnesses, and dehydration, reducing illness-related school absenteeism.
  • Encouraging Healthy Hydration: Readily accessible, hygienic water stations encourage active children to stay properly hydrated during classes, sports practices, and hot weather.
  • Relieving Household Pressures: Children no longer need to carry heavy, cumbersome water bottles from home, providing practical peace of mind to parents and caregivers.
  • Enhancing Institutional Hygiene: Providing modern, hygienic water facilities elevates the campus learning atmosphere and reinforces positive, lifelong hygiene habits among students.
The radiant smiles, enthusiasm, and gratitude shared by the students and faculty of both schools during the handover ceremonies highlighted the lasting value of this essential infrastructure.
